Steve McCann lands the second ever no-handed 900 in comp history! X Games 17
@gakman41 ps. I means it was the first ever! Mat Hoffman = God 😛
@gakman41 well it was 2002 and go on mat hoffman on wiki, it says “In 2001, Hoffman competed at the X Games, earning the Bronze Medal. He stunned the industry and fans, alike, when he set another record by successfully completing the first-ever No-handed 900 at the 2002 X Games, resulting in the Silver Medal.”
Personally I think he shoulda won Gold
@OllieL96 wtf…… doing a no handed 900 back then was likerunning the 100 m in 7 seconds i though it wouldnt matter bout his tricks after….
@gakman41 I don’t think he did actually 🙁 Silver!
aha imma guess he woon gold?
hell yea so fuckin buttery ass
@boltactionkings true that
holy shit
@eiriks1 settled then
@devidia I actually see your basic point if you want to nit pick stuff like this, but these types of trick names have been established in BMX (and skatebord and snowbord) since the beginning. Try searching for 360 or 540 no handers as well. You won’t like it 😉
So it just feels really silly for a non-rider(?) to come in and bitch about these things, as it was never meant to be “accurate” in any form or way (which is one of the things I love about BMX, btw)
P.S: “Handlebars”, not “steers”.
@eiriks1 wow man,you’re really taking this too seriously. you have to let the grab go eventually…
you go do some steer releases, i’ll go do some no hands
@devidia You really should start hunting down and complaining about all the snowboard clips of riders not holding on to their boards all the way, even if the trick is called a “grab” of some kind. Or perhaps, I don’t know start commenting on issues you actually have some knowledge about.
Btw, there’s a BMX trick called the “Rocket Queen”, and guess what? No rockets or queens in sight. Imagine that, not really caring about the minutia of trick name. Weird, huh?
@eiriks1 i don’t care what you think, the name is simply incorrect when you only release your stear for a fraction of a second. doesn’t matter what everyone calls it, that doesn’t make it right
@devidia Let me guess: You don’t ride BMX. Because that has to be the silliest argument against the name (!) of a trick I’ve heard in my almost 30 years of riding. Or do you mean to say that when a BMX rider does a regular no-hander (or no footer, or one hander), he’s supposed to take his hands off before he takes off and keep them like that until landing for the name of the trick to be legit?And never mind that ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY RIDE AND ARE ABLE TO DO NO HANDED TRICKS call it that…
@temekisama once again, i am not lacking any credit to the difficulty of the trick, i am just trying to say that a no-handed is not quit correct, more like a 900 with release
@smexxillama No Mirra did. Hoffman was robbed.
@temekisama when you call something no handed,its supposed to be no handed all the way. no use in calling a 360 a 360 when you just do a 180,no? i didn’t say it was a shitty trick, i just say that no handed isn’t really a 100% correct name for this trick
