i think because he’s doing? all his butters at high speeds, he actually needs a stiffer board like the custom x to drive his presses (or he’d just flip out if he was riding a noodle)

beast?
That’s? pretty sick not quite that good at buttering yet
Basically it’s a powerful speed-check. If it were in powder that would be a? pow slash. If it were a bit slower and mellower, it might be a speed-check you’d use in the park.
The on-the-snow difference between a turn and a speed-check is that a turn changes your direction of travel, while a speed-check ideally does not. That means decoupling the act of pivoting the board on the snow from the strong edge angle needed to carve or stop. The athletic difference is in rotation vs. counter-rotation.
Wrong, not just for pipe riding. I’ve been using it since my first instructor’s course in 2000. Forward lean is great, it accomplishes a couple of things:
1. Performance: Pre-loading tension into the highback? for more responsive heelside control (more transfer of force with less movement)
2. Postural: the pressure on the calf helps drive the lower leg forward, encouraging a lower stance (more bend at the knees)
Personally, I’m usually on about 3/4 forward lean on Burton bindings.
