Here is how I fixed the squeaking noise of my MacBook Pro. This noise came after i upgraded the memory, so by opening and closing the back cover, it was then not as tight as originally from the factory. I tried re-tightening the screws, putting loctite, nothing fixed it. The noise may also occur after a certain period of time without opening the back cover. I am not exactly sure what the grounding bar is or does but many owners found this to be annoying. Regarding this issue, some did not get a helpful fix from their support technician, some got a new MacBook Pro. I simply mask the problem. These modifications may void your warranty, consult your Apple Support technician before opening your MacBook Pro.

I was able to fix this by simply tightening the screws around the spring rather than removing it. Then I applied firm pressure to the back of my cover when I screwed the cover back on. No? tape needed!
Can you use Duct Tape to do the same? thing, or must it be electrical tape?

If you could check the connectivity, you would see? that the main board is still grounded with the back cover.
you realize that this means that your logic board is no longer grounded right.? thats a very bad thing.
I just dropped my MacBook off at the apple store today, if you have any warranty left bring it in! They are replacing the entire top case, over a? 200.00 dollar repair, don’t try this unless your warranty is out

A SATA hard drive will always make some noise, the disks are spinning but it should not be noticeable. Yes the HD may show activity even when? you are not “sending” files.
is it normal for mac book pro? to have a fan like sound where the hard rive is near the dvd player? even when your not sending files back and forth?

dude this video helped me solve the problem..you don’t need tape…the actual problem is that you are over tightening the screws. if you loosen all the screws and then tighten them up? just enough to keep the case together the creaking goes away….you can’t take that ground off or you can risk frying your computer with an electric shock.

I would suggest to find the cause, in your case the sound may come from something else.?
quick question…. when I’m suing my macbook pro 2009 it makes a sound like when ur loading something the whole? time I’m on it….. but its quiet but annoying when I’m alone…. help? its not loud but still can hear it when its quiet…

I think there are other grounding means other than this grounding bar. I consider this fix as masking the? problem, not a definitive corrective measure. I have found that some use conductive grease on those contact points, that may be the best way.
