To learn how to do awesome BMX tricks – the first step is to play online BMX Games
BMX or Bicycle motocross was born in the early ’70s as a modified regular children’s bike, where kids wanted to race on dirt tracks inspired by the motocross superstars, who ruled on the American regions in that time. Over time, BMX was moved from the dirt tracks to the specially designed fields that were already used by skateboarders. Those fields are designed to have a lot of ramps, half-pipes and rails so that a lot of tricks and stunts can be done there.
During the 80s BMX riders started to leave the parks and they established a new type of the ride- Freestyle BMX which reached its peak of popularity in 1987. Because it contains 5 different disciplines and each discipline has a lot of tricks, Freestyle BMX will be the main topic of this article. Consisting of 5 disciplines: “Street”, “Park”, “Vert”, “Trails” and “Flatland” Freestyle, BMX has almost every trick which is still used today.
Street – implies that BMX rider is riding his bike on the street and uses everything on his way as an obstacle to perform some tricks. These obstacles are typically man made and not designed for bicycles, they can be: stairs, handrails, ledges, curved walls, banks or simple curb. This discipline is the most used today. Tricks: Double peg, Barspin, Smith grind, Tire grab, Decade, Tailwhip..

Park – here BMXers are limited to performing tricks depending on park design and park style. Only skateboarders were using skate parks at the beginning, but with the BMX evolution a lot of kids started to come to skate parks and drive their bikes there. Parks can be made or wood, concrete and metal, and style of riding often depends of the park style or from what it is made of. Tricks: Lucky, Toothpick grind, Backflip, Frontflip, x-up, Bikeflip…
Vert – here BMX riders are only using half-pipe ramps for the tricks. Half-pipe is made of two quarter pipes set facing each other. This ramp is very good if you want to reach the “Big Air”.
Trails (or “dirt jumps”)- this discipline retained the original use of the BMX, where the bikes have remained at dirt tracks and the main accent is on the mountain downhill ride where a rider is using natural obstacles as ramps to do awesome tricks. Ticks: all air tricks – Superman, Backflip, Frontflip, 360, Can Can, 180 and much more.
Flatland – here there’re no ramps, parks or some other obstacles, it is only you and your bike on the smooth, flat surface. This is a kind of separate and isolated discipline where flatland biker will only do flatland tricks. Tricks: Endo, Fork manual, Pogo, Hang-5, Catwalk or wheelie and more.
